Phanteks Evolv Shift X Review

Phanteks is back at it again, and this time they have literally “shifted” the case market on its head. The Shift series of cases were first teased at CES 2017 in Las Vegas. Phanteks wanted to create a nice looking HTPC solution that no one in the industry has offered yet. The Shift series is a perfect extension of the Evolv family of cases. Just like the rest of the Evolv’s, the Shift series is crafted from high-quality aluminum and flanked by smoked tempered glass panels. The Shift series comes in 2 variants: The Evolv Shift and the Evolv Shift X. The Evolv Shift is primarily geared towards air cooled builds and does not have any support for any custom water-cooling loops. The Evolv Shift X, on the other hand, is the taller brother of the Evolv Shift. The Shift X has support for water cooling and allows for a decent custom loop setup in the case. Since this is the Mod Zoo we decided to review the Shift X and stick a full custom loop in the case.

Without wasting any more of your time, let’s just dive straight into the review and see if the Shift X truly is a shift from the status quo.

MSRP (at time of review)

Evolv Shift                        $109.99
Evolv Shift X                    $159.99
