  1. Got a few things done, PSU shroud, 5.25 bays and now the back panel have all been primed (back panel was done in chrome for the purple later). I started the cutting on the bottom of the HDD chassis panel but I'm guessing that I either just don't know what I'm doing or the discs they included with the dremel just suck. Time for a trip to Lowes in the morning. Anyways, here's the back panel in all it's shiny glory. I can't wait to see the purple pop off it. You can see behind it that I used an old case I had laying around as a paint tester.
  2. Greetings and Salutations my fellow Simians! I am Azurko and this will be a day of firsts for me. My first full tower, first modding, first paint job, and my first project log. Just a quick bit about myself before I get started, I've been building and working on PC's for roughly 20 years (started around the age of 15 on a Windows 95 machine) but they've always been mid-tower cases that are air cooled. Not too long ago, I saw a video about liquid cooling from a guy named JayzTwoCents and it sparked a desire to build myself a new rig (current one was built 4 or 5 years ago). Going with liquid cooling, I knew I'd need a bigger case than I'm used to having so I decided to pop my full tower cherry and went searching. My god there's a lot of options compared to the last time I looked! While looking through the massive amount of cases, I stumbled upon a review for the Phanteks Enthoo Luxe full tower by our one and only Bill Owen. I knew I was in love! (with the case, not him...) The ideas started to pour out of me to the point my wife told me to shut up and go to sleep. This brings me to Project Last Laugh. If you've not guessed, Last Laugh is going to be based on the one and only Clown Prince of Crime himself, The Joker! I'm going with a chromed purple exterior matched with a pearl white interior after cutting away the metal that hides the HDD cages (which will be removed). The MB, RAM and Fans will all have that cherry red look and the liquid cooling will be UV Green. I know, I know...shut up and show us some specs! Ok...god....pushy much. Keep in mind that this is going to be a project of love for me therefore it's going to be awhile before hardware gets purchased so things are liable to change between now and then. MB: Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z AM3+ AMD 990FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD CPU: AMD FD8350FRHKBOX FX-8350 FX-Series 8-Core Black Edition Processor PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 850 80+ Gold 850W Fully Modular Video: MSI NVIDA GeForce GTX 970 Gaming 4GB RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB DDR3 2400MHz SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 500GB HDD: reclaimed WD 3TB from my current system Fans: Corsair AF140 Quiet editions X 3 & SP120 Quiet Edition X4 OS: Windows 10 Then there's the odds & ends parts, extended red power cables, red Sata's, and I'm thinking of getting a touch screen fan controller just so I'm not depending on software. Aside from that, the only other piece I want is an acrylic side panel to replace the metal one. I figure if I'm going through all this trouble, I want to see the inside! One final thing for the window is I'm wanting to try my hand at etching as well. I won't say what, but it'll be a gas! Don't worry, I know the list is missing the liquid cooling parts. There's a very good reason for that, I'm fickle. I keep getting torn between the sleek look of the rigid tubing vs the ease of the flexible. What I know for sure is that I want the Alphacool NexXxoS XT45 full copper 240mm radiator, a tube style reservoir, and maybe the Glowry AMD INTEL Universal Black POM LED CPU block. I had thought about water cooling my GPU's as well, but it's just way too much for my first go around. Maybe down the road.... This is my basic plan for the modding. Sorry for the crappy picture, I don't know how to use Photoshop so I did this with just Paint. Once I get more done to the system (it's been disassembled and the PSU cover & 5.25" bays have a few coats of primer) I'll post more pictures of my progress. EDIT* I clicked the link to my picture to see if it worked and it put a fair amount of porn images below it so I'm removing it for now. EDIT Take 2* Thanks for taking the time to read and I hope you follow along on my journey!
  3. So I've recently purchased the phanteks enthoo luxe full tower and have decided that it's going to be my first mod project (been building PC's for roughly 20 years and feel ashamed for having never done this). My plans are to paint the case and also to purchase the clear panel for it from http://mnpctech.com/phanteks-case-mods/enthoo-luxe-clear-panel/ I've got a few questions that I want to pose before I get too far and end up destroying my pretty new case. First, is it possible to remove the LED's along the edges of the case so that I can paint without risk of damaging them? I bought some Scotch 233+ tape and was thinking I might have to find a way to cover them with it, but I'd rather take them out. My second (and probably more important) question, is how hard would it be to remove the panel that covers the HDD bays and still keep the 5.25 bays up top? The more I look at the case, the more I just don't like the current mounting points for water cooling (also my first attempt) so I was thinking I could remove the HDD bays, use a bracket to mount the HDD into the 5.25 slot, and put my reservoir underneath. Also I guess what tools would be best to do this job? Thanks for any help, I'm starting to become obsessed with all this thanks to watching Bill and Jayztwocents lol.
