  3. ----------------- It's time again for another build and the Corsair 900D case looks like a nice challenge. My last build (QuakeCon 800D) was a pleasure to create and I am proud of what I was able to accomplish. I love the quality of the Corsair Obsidian series and the 900D is their premiere flagship case. I am looking forward to modding the case and powdercoating the exterior surfaces to suite my theme. The theme I decided to go with is based on my favorite graphics card company - NVIDIA. The color scheme will be their company colors of green and black. There will be an illuminated claw logo inside the case just below the 5.25" bays. ----------------- Now let's get started with the components... 4. Long time listener, first time caller! I had a random idea , it ended up growing into : Corsair 900D Corsair ax1200i PSU ASUS Rampage IV Black Edition intel i7-4830k 16G Corsair Dominator Platinum (4x4) 2x ASUS Poseidon Monsoon hardline acrylic 1/2 x 5/8 Monsoon Free Center hardlock 1/2 x 5/8 fittings XSPC Raystorm Copper CPU block XSPC mainboard blocks 2x XSPC AX480 1x XSPC AX360 1x XSPC AX240 3x XSPC photon 170 1x XSPC photon 270 Random assortment of MNPCTECH billet goodies A whole slew of Corsair SP120s 6x+ vandal resistant 22mm buttons + custom mounts Some amount of modder's mesh Another whole slew of phobya and darkside LED strips Mayhems Aurora gold loop 1 Mayhems Pastel UV white loop 2 Feser UV black loop 3 Varied and various pieces and parts hand milled from 1/2" & 1/4" 6061, plus whatever else I end up needing to fab up. On the short list is a series of mounts of the reservoirs, a replacement for the top cover of the 900D, a replacement / cut out of the front panel plate and filter set, likely a set of replacements for the 5 1/4 bay covers, and a full replacement of the front panel ports. Potentially cutting out and meshing the basement doors as well. And some amount of House of Kolor Black Gold pearl Progress pics soon, just waiting on a few more items to arrive.... EDIT: changed project name, Tower of Power was unwieldy at best ;)
  5. Hello everyone, I am new to modding, I have always loved to the custom look and mods that people come up with when I look to buy/build me a new computer, so I decided I would try to do some mods myself and see how it goes. I have not decided on a theme yet, all I have come up with is my color scheme. I have yet to purchase anything as of yet because i want to have a firm grasp on where i want to go before jumping in and blowing allot of money on things i don't need right away. For my color scheme i would like to go with a White/Black. But when trying to think of a theme to go with with this color scheme I tend to drift to racing and I'm not really a fan of racing. I am hesitant to choose a theme of a game (don't want to pick something and latter end up not liking the game all that much) I have decided to go with a Corsair 900D case for the room (as i would like to add water cooling next year) and there is plenty of ways to make it my own. As for tools and experience, I don't have many tools right now, just basic screwdriver sets for tearing apart my current electronics. I know i will have to purchase some tools, I myself have never worked with tools much so suggestions on starting tools and brands would be very helpful. Thank you all, and keep up the amazing work. Hope to be one of you soon.
  6. This is a slide show How to on Hand Crafted Fabrication. Some amazing things have been crafted using basic tools and techniques long before CNC mills were ever invented. I want to pass on what was taught to me so that it might help other modders that don't have access to a mill or just want to take on the challenge of making things with basic tools. I have great respect for those that have the ability to program a CNC Mill to craft computer parts, some people would have you think there is no skill in that and I totally disagree. Those are just different skills than I have. There is a great satisfaction in hand crafting pieces so enjoy!
  7. So, as I was sipping on some kraken rum last night. I got to thinking how bad feces generator it would be to make a pirate themed 900d. Corsair already has ships as a logo, so a well designed skull silhouette would work wonders, either airbrush a wooden plank style paint job on it, or it'd probably be easier to do it digitally and make vinyl stickers for that effect. and for the reservoir.... an empty rum bottle. that case definitely has enough room inside of it for that. of course there would be rum colored liquid. I haven't drawn anything up yet. Just been thinking things through. my budget is spent on my pallidium ironman build, so if I get around to this it'll be one of those buy a part or two per month type build. unless of course corsair came along and was like F YEAH, here's everything you need (not a plug, or a plead). I was thinking about saving the next several months and getting into the DIY CNC circle after i get done with college (6 more months) but this might be worth putting that off a little longer... What do you guys think? something you'd like to see? Please share some other ideas for accoutrements.
  8. I'm sure you guys have seen it, but I feel like we need a discussion space. I like it, a lot. 2x480mm rads, 240mm, and 360mm all fit in this thing at the same time. LOLWUT http://www.corsair.com/900d
